Book of Masks
The Book of Masks is maintained by the Keeper of the Book and details the various permitted characters and their appearance, categorisation and qualities. The master Book is handwritten; annual printed editions and supplements are issued, and it holds a similar position in Bonvidaeoan society to, say, Burke’s Peerage in Victorian England, in terms of who buys and consults it. It uses an arcane set of abbreviations which only trained readers can interpret - the handwritten version even more so than the printed.
