When you download works that have a download price specified, the price is recorded against your login name. When your account reaches an amount that is economic to bill, and it is more than a month since your first unpaid-for download, you will have to pay off your account before you can download anything else.
Effectively this means that the last month is "free" - if you decide you don't like what you are seeing before a month has passed, you can walk away and we won't chase you. But if you are getting value from the site, we assume you won't mind paying a small sum for good content.

In order to protect you and our members, and increase the range of services we can offer you, we require you to log in if you want to use some features of the site. We keep the login process as simple as possible. It consists of providing a username (your email address, which we will not abuse) and a password. You must then confirm your email address by responding to an email we send you. Logging in has several benefits.

Sending unsolicited marketing emails to us will be a waste of your time as well as ours, because we have a firm policy that we do not buy from anyone who sends us such emails. Indeed, it will be counterproductive, since if we receive unsolicited marketing emails we will blacklist the senders and advise our members not to buy from them either.
It has come to our attention that unscrupulous people are using one of our email addresses as the "from" address in their spam. This is obviously not something we endorse in any way and we disclaim all responsibility for any such emails. Please check the headers of any spam you receive which appears to be from us and you will find that it is actually sent from another domain. (In some countries, this practice of forging headers is now illegal, and you may have legal recourse.)
